Digital Utopia or Programmed Dystopia?

With the accessibility of internet, one can reach whenever and wherever they want. This easily available interconnectivity has made our connection super easier. The world is not only moving towards digitalization but it is shaping our identity and values too.

When different ideas around the globe are merged together, a pattern of new order begins. People are more self aware about their ambitions, sexuality, wants, and many more aspects of life. Indeed, internet has a huge impact on our communication style; one touch can lead us to numerous options, from ordering food, booking tickets, finding dates and making friends. We are at that point of time, where imagining our life without cell phone is just miserable. The best example of our changing primary necessities is that child who needs to watch ‘Cocomelon’ in order to swallow food after chewing.

Young people are advocating about liberty and freedom of expressions. They demand for unique perspectives and personalities. Perhaps, their ideas are inclined to Utopian Way of society after getting influenced by dystopian ideas which they are trying to avoid in order capturing the real essence of human connection. This new Utopian ideas are suggestive about meeting personal motives or ‘my life, my rule’ philosophy rather than collective goals of society. I might sound like Bentham’s theory of Utilitarianism. But if every individual is trying to attain their personal goals, then whole community is going nowhere due to conflicts.

[My argument isn’t about what is right or wrong instead it is about conflict that will emerge afterwards]

In the past many incidents related to mass brainwash had occurred, where rulers and political leaders manipulate masses in order to milk out their personal agendas. They had burnt their own official records, incidents and historical events were written again with biased ink. With this interconnectivity, information is not easy to crush our voice as we can share to rest of the world. What if this medium is corrupted and your voice is altered even without you knowing that.

Let’s take a case that you are a bookworm and you live in an era where there is no internet. Books and television are the only means of information. You are going to buy a book from a book store and you will make purchase according to your genre. Now one of your friend who is also like minded as you, recommended you to read a particular book. Let’s assume that you bought the book as per recommendations. There are two probabilities either you will love the book or you won’t.

Your friend’s recommendation affected your decision, just imagine what are the effects on humans when they are drowning in the ocean of information. This internet is not humanly yes it meant to be for human but it isn’t. our human mind can not digest that amount of information leading to get influenced by contents. Many young people are following the trends without thinking about effects that they will experience later. it is something like they are being controlled and we can say that as business houses, certain sectors and politicians are using internet for their purpose shaping the minds as per they want.

Let’s take a case, nowadays on instagram, people are normalizing certain terms, and trends which back in those days were strange. People call it change but it is induced change which will either create a society that is more regulated or push the boundaries. Internet has given us a lot but it is interfering in our life with flashy advertisements and contents.

It is a paradox, where people want unique ideas but their notion about uniqueness is corrupted by third party. Basically, no one is free right now.

The Indian Paradox : Democracy, Communism and National Identity

On the 10th October 2008, the historic deal was signed between India and the USA. A landmark occasion as India began to be recognised as a nuclear weapon state, a privilege that enabled gain access to critical technologies. The core of agreement focuses on the non proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. The deal opens the door for import of Uranium which further leads to peaceful and civilian use of nuclear energy. The deal also strengthens the future image of India at international level. However, being democratic country with a political instability as a feature of Manmohan Singh's government took a unique turn. Criticism was expressed in parliament but the irony is that the opposition party led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji supported the deal but coalition parties threatened the cabinet for withdrawing the support. In my opinion, this is a common situation but the issue that concerns me most is the fact that primary opposition came from communist party also known as "le...

Climate Change: a great crises that we will defeat.

“Climate change is a terrible problem, and it needs to be solved. It deserves to be a huge priority.”-Bill Gates, Founder of Microsoft. Do you experience intense heat more often than your parents and grandparents? It must be a ‘NO’. During those days heat was not severe and if we analyze the scenario 20 years ago, people were able to live without air conditioners. But why are we experiencing this weather pattern? Well, this is persuaded by human activities that cause climate change. As per as United Nations, climate change is regarded as one of the greatest crises in the world.
